New HOT TOYS FIGURE - Christopher Reeve SUPERMAN THE MOVIE

OK, I know that this is really not "Batman -Related News" but I'm a HUGE FAN of the Christopher Reeve SUPERMAN Movies from the 1970's, so, here we go! HOT TOYS has just released a teaser photo of one of their next major figures they're going to release. It's the SUPERMAN THE MOVIE Figure, a Classic Christopher Reeve version! The pic doesn't show his face, but knowing this Toy Company, it's gonna be awesome! Now, let's just hope they do every single character in the film, "KNEEL DOWN TO ZOD!"

Video - Vintage BATMAN TOY TV Commercial - Kenner's Sparkle Paints Play Set

Down below is an awesome Vintage 1960's Toy TV Commercial for the 1966 BATMAN AND SUPERMAN SPARKLE PAINTS Play Set made by Kenner Toys! It also includes an advertisement for another Kenner's Product, the See-A-Show! Now, up above I've included a reference photo of a different Kenner SPARKLE PAINT SET. This one featured just Batman. These babies are extremely RARE to find now a days because, back in the day, kids totally destroyed them, ha! I wish I had one of these because I totally love the vintage graphics on the original boxes.

The characters will include: Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Batman, Joker, and Catwoman! I really like the fact that they're using older comic book art...nice!

Collector Reference Photo - 1976 Pepsi Series DC Superhero Character Promo Glass Set

Just the other day I got an email from a Bat-Blog Reader asking me about a Batman Promo Glass he found at a Garage Sale. He sent a photo of it and as soon as I saw it I knew what it was. I mean, I totally remembered these from my childhood in the 70's. It's a glass from the 1976 DC Comics Superhero Pepsi Series. If I remember right, they were a promotion at Burger King, the Fast Food Restaurant ( or was it Arby's? ). But either way here's a photo that shows the complete set of 6 glasses ( Click on the pic for a larger sharper version ). OK Rob, you now need to find Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman, Shazam, and the Flash!

New DC SUPER-PETS BOOKS - Book Launch Celebrates with Contest

Picture Window Books ( a division of Capstone Publishing ) just released a brand-new series of Children Books called DC SUPER-PETS. The Illustrator for these are none other than Art Baltazar. You might recognize his name from the successful TINY TITANS comic books. The basic concept for this new series is that they tell stories about the adventures of SUPER-PETS who are owned by some of your favorite DC Comics Superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, & Green Lantern. Their names are Ace the Bat-Hound, Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, and Jumpa the Super-Kangaroo.

Now, to celebrate the launch of this new series, Picture Window Books is sponsoring a writing contest for students in grades 1-3. Children enter the "My Pet is Super" contest by writing an article for an imaginary newspaper, The Daily Planet, about why their own pet is super! Art Baltazar will create an illustration of the winning Super-Pet that will appear in a future book in the DC Super-Pets series. The winning student will receive the original art as well as copies of the book. Authors of the top 50 entries in the contest will also win free books. For complete rules and to enter, visit CapstoneKids.com The contest runs from January 15th, 2011 - February 28th, 2011.

SQUATZ - DC UNIVERSE - New Figures Checklist

You might remember reading about the brand-new SQUATZ toys here at the Bat-Blog about 2 weeks ago. We had some prototype pics of the packaging & mentioned them. Well, I have now seen the actual product, in my hands, & they're extremely cool! What I'm talking about is the new line of DC UNIVERSE / SQUATZ FIGURES made by Wild Planet. They are compact collectible figures of our favorite DC Comics characters embedded in dissolving tablets. They are sold 2 figures per pack. One figure is visible & the other is hidden. The list of Core Characters ( visible ) include: Batman, The Joker, The Penguin, Green Lantern, Superman, & The Flash. The list of Bonus Characters ( hidden ) include: Aquaman, Robin, Lex Luthor, Gorilla Grodd, Green Arrow, Hawkman, & Wonder Woman. Overall there are 13 different ones to collect. Each package will have a retail price of around $9.99 & you can find them at the end of this year, during the holiday season. In fact, I think they would make very excellent stocking stuffers. So, remember to keep an eye out for these later! Now, for the Toy & Action Figure Collectors out there, who will probably be collecting all of these, I have created this special SQUATZ - DC UNIVERSE Checklist! OK, actually it's a Desktop Wallpaper you can use as a background on your PC ( you could also print it out ). It shows the complete 1st wave of 13 figures. BATMAN and SUPERMAN - Wallpaper Background

One of the things about the BAT-BLOG that I'm pretty proud about is the amount of people who submit material to this site. That really means a lot to me. Plus, It says that they like my page & are also serious about being a Batman Fan. Here's a recent example: This is a fun BATMAN AND SUPERMAN Wallpaper Background for you guys to enjoy. It was made by a Bat-Blog Fan named Sam. He drew this with a simple PAINT program, so that kind of explains why it is kind of crudely done. But I really like the "primitive look" of it...very cool! It makes an excellent desktop image. In fact, it's on my desktop right now, ha! I want to thank Sam for sending this in & I also want to invite all Bat-Blog Readers to please submit materials you think would be cool for the site. Mainly, just let us know about any brand-new pieces of Batman Merchandise you might come across in your retail store hunt. Sharing the joy & fun of collecting BATMAN is the main focus of the Bat-Blog.Com!
