I'm not talking about the lower levels of computing. I'm talking about the parts of computing that End Users, who will never see an IDE in their entire lives. This is where computing is being redefined. They're shifting the way people use the "input. Process. Output.Store".
Again for the people wanting very much to redefine computing, "shifting the way people use" is not redefining computing. At least qualify it properly as a shift in usability, not in computing. You are talking about the lower levels when you use the word computing.

I'd like to see a bit more commitment from Apple (the company previously known as Apple Computers) on the computer side before I consider recomending any kind of Mac to people again.
You didn't watch the actual source of all of this information, but yet you feel that Apple might not be committed to the Mac anymore? Oye. Watch the first five minutes of it. :)
I think that those who think that SJ & Apple are beyond criticism merely confirm the excellent points you've raised in your post.
I find that most folks here are very critical of Apple and its products and don't usually hesitate to criticize where they feel appropriate. Just because not everyone participating in this thread don't agree with the OP's opinion that SJ is an arrogant SOB doesn't mean that everyone worships him either.
If all the iPhone mockups out there had missed the mark, the iPhone would be revolutionary, but there were quite a few that were based on the idea of a huge display and no keys.
I missed the markup where the full-screen video iPod was combined with the iPhone into on device.
The modest memory, for one, and for another the absence of 3G which is somewhat of a shocker - 3G has been a staple of top-of-the-line phones for years now.

If not the business market, then who? It can't be kids, as it has no games, and allegedly no support for custom ringtones. Have you forgotten that the first thing Jobs and Woz did was phone phreaking with Captain Crunch? Could this possibly be a wish fulfillment of having the coolest phone and because he is now a grown up not making prank calls to the Pope. I thought the whole talk was remeiniscent of the ultimate (legal) phone phreak. I was hoping Woz would've been on stage because you can probaly bet your bottom buck he's going to get one.
Right now it's a little too pricey for me but if there's one true thing about electonics, things always go down in price. The first Mac after all was $2,495 and it had no hard drive, just floppies. Still, tres macnifique! :cool:

Uh, no... the iPhone 4 was called the iPhone 4 because it was the 4th version of the iPhone (not because it came after 3 in 3G). If the next iPhone is called the 4S, that'd be the 5th iPhone model. So the next one after that would be called the iPhone 6.

Their business is great, and more importantly, their big push right now is obviously iPods for the holiday season. This is a much more popular gift item, and the holiday shopping season is barely gearing up.

Also they are having a real problem keeping up with MacBook sales, even with Yonah (C1D) and THAT is their current manufacturing focus. For a change, it is NOT caused by chip shortages either! It is a manufacturing shortage. That is a great problem to have!!

I'm a friend of rtdgoldfish, we hang out and shoot the crap and play games. I don't think the area we live in has wifi stealing laws, but you never know until someone gets arrested for it. But since he doesn't run a business or have any confidential information on his computer that i know about, i doubt that there will be any thing the police here can do about it.
He's a pretty nice guy and I was surprised when he called me late one night to tell me what happened, he lives in a pretty tranquil place. the funny thing about this is that it seems like he's been doing the whole investigation while he police just sit around and wait for his information. I hope he gets his stuff back though.

I think you'll find movie distrubution rights outside of USA have the same problems as TV SHOW downloads outside of USA. In other words we wont get any lol, in much the same way as we cant download from the new Amazon movie download servers in the UK. I dont know who actually runs the european side of Apple but they want sacking lol, over a year and no new content outside of USA lol. I'll still follow the feeds though lol cos I'm sad like that :)
What I mean is that TV channel companies buy exclusive rights to show shows, you will find (in the UK anyway) shows like lost don't go on sale on DVD till after they have been shown on TV. Highstreet shops can't buy the rights to sell DVD movies exclusively. However, I am sure there are plenty of legal issues Apple will have to work around.

I love my iPad 2, but I don't care for the ads. I like the overall message, but the narrator's inflections really bug me for some reason - a little too sappy. Also, the use of the word "magic" (wink, wink) in this ad and the previous one smacks of Steve Jobs thumbing his nose at critics. No matter how successful the iPad is, we will still cringe at his calling it magical.

I generally agree with the overall consesus. The attempt to bridge OS X and iOS GUI's are disappointing. It's not so much one thing in particular but the culmination of terribly implemented GUI nuances.
The grey Finder and Mail sidebar icons are more confusing, as was the grey iTunes X icons that were quickly remedied with an iTunes.rsrc file to add the previous color icons. ICal would benefit from a black/grey leather with more grain/definition, as would Address Book. Finder windows have about the same UI as L/SL, and I'm not into the latest iOS scroll bars (too thick, I preferred the thinner scroll bars). The depressed/non-depressed buttons seem misplaced. The blue standard system folders seem even more inconsistent comparatively (and they have been around since 10.5) and I loathe the icons for iTunes/App Store/Safari (which is really outdated).
Overall, instead of Apple [finally] producing an OS X with a unified GUI, nothing seems consistent. Either add flare and color or don't.
OS X Lion needs Lithium, it's becoming schizophrenic!
