Seriously, why not an Imac with touch-screen right now? Will we need to wait for the next iMac update to see this technology implemented?

i've got an ATVclassic and the the ATV2. i don't need a $2000 apple cinema display. what i do need/want is an apple double din car stereo with built in wifi, 3g, touchscreen, ipod and maps. i want to pull up in my driveway every night and be able to wirelessly sync songs from my mac to my car's stereo. i want 3g for pandora or maybe mobileme (if that cloud storage thing ever comes to fruition). i want more mobile not stagnant, sit-in-front-of-the tv crap.
honestly, since getting the ATV a few years ago, i watch tv less. i listen to more music streamed through my entire house. if i sit down in front of the television its almost always for the purpose of watching a movie. i love the mobility of apple products now and i always have my mac for a base station to come back to to do work.

If people want free, go for Audiogalaxy. It isn't exactly cloud based as it is hosted on one of your machines but you will have access to all your music for free.

Sigh, I'm getting the distinct impression that iCal is going to add a bunch of new features and not fix many of the usability problems it already has now. For instance, there is no way to shift several events in time simultaneously, you have to change each one individually. Another is that when you select several events from different calendars and copy and paste them they all turn into the same calendar category.
There are many more problems like these, but I've seen no mention in the preview reports that iCal has done anything to refine the existing features, only that new features are being added. If anyone with a preview can inform me of the contrary I'd be quite happy to hear it.

How has Apple NOT innovated on the Mac line up?
- Completely redesigned and absolutely beautiful architecture on the insides of the Mac Pro
- MagSafe
- 24" all in one machine
- Front Row/apple Remote/iSight in every "portable" Mac
- Two finger right clicking on trackpad
All of this in the year of a move to a new platform.
The REAL innovations though, will occur in the second generation of Intel products. THe most important thing was to make a swift but calm switchover to ensure nobody got nervous over the move. Now we are here, 2007 will be sick.

To give you an idea how mentally backwards this attitude is: In what is probably considered one of the most backward countries in the world, in Iran, the religious leaders are completely Ok with a transgender operation. To them, a man is a man, a woman is a woman, and a man or woman who has the bad luck to be born in the wrong kind of body should get help to get the problem fixed.

Because that customer's service has been suspended due to non-pay. Trust me a customer care rep does not get this info... They are going off of what they hear in the media. Let's say the phone is coming out in the fall, Apple and all other companies have to wait for official announcement to give out info. That was some reps personal opinion...:rolleyes:

Of course there is. iOS runs on two currently available Apple smartphone models: 3GS and 4. The iOS that runs on these phones is sufficiently different in feature sets from the iOS that runs on Tablets, media consumption devices, and Apple TVs:
-Larger resolution on tablets
-Communications handled separately - No phone app or visual voicemail on Tablet or iPod Touch
-No installable apps on Apple TV
AppleTV isn't being counted. If it had apps, it would be. For now, while it's running iOS "under the hood", Apple and analysts aren't actually mentioning that or using it in counts.
And the differences between iPad / iPod / iPhone are orders of magnitude less than the differences between the ultra-high and ultra-low ends of what is being counted as Android "phones".
This whole "smartphone OS" is something dreamed up in the last few weeks by Android apologists, after the numbers showed that Apple has the most popular OS and the most popular piece(s) of hardware in the mobile industry.

The guy heading up the MOKB thing said that MacOSX's kernel (XNU) was the easiest kernel to crack. If that makes you feel safe, then go ahead and feel safe, but for me, even though I use extremely good security practices and networking measures, I still would rather have Apple get serious aboud security and start hardening their system more so that guys who are only fuzzing and stress testing can't come up with 10 vulnerabilities in a month.
The "guy" heading up that thing is sketchy, to say the least...instead of showing yourself as "LHM", be a man and publish your identity as well as your corporate background...one of his points was already debunked, more will follow...he seems much more like someone looking for publicity and page hits than a serious researcher, as others have said in the specialized media. So for me, someone who "says that the OS X kernel is the easiest" is as reliable as someone who says that "oompa-loompa" is a OS X virus in the wild...
I couldn't care less about its remarks, notwithstanding the obvious need for any company to secure its OS as much as possible.

this sounds very interesting and futuristic. i wonder how you click, or make a selection. it would be pointless if you could scroll wothout touching the screen, but had to touch it in order to click on the scroll wheel.

AT&T's HSPA+ can pull down 21 MB theoretically. 4x faster than HSPA 7.2.
The theoretical never actually happen though. That's why I'd take a superior network standard with a lower frequency, and thus better building penetration, any day.
