So your link is to an article where the writer has no clue why it wasn't done? Not very useful. Again, I don't get why people don't get this. A backlight keyboard takes more room. Not a lot but some. The new MBAs are thinner with larger batteries than the first. Seems pretty reasonable it wouldn't fit. Note this is Apple, which do you think they would chose, thinner or a backlight keyboard?

Cool. Then in a couple months, when the new macbook air is released and its as thin, or thinner than the current model AND includes a backlit keyboard, you'll come back here and admit you were ignorant, right?

You wouldn't work for your boss for zero salary so why would you expect Apple to invest millions in their data centers and give this away for free?

I want a way to see how much space the trash is taking up before I empty it. Is there a way? There was in OS 9 and OS 8.

    It's quite simple:

    $ du -hs .Trash

Correct. Xcode is the Mac OSX development platorm, so naturally it only runs on Macs.

Ok, well, that's cool. I found a very quick and simple way to enable multi-touch gestures on a pc, without Xcode or jailbreak:

Hmmm, and I thought it was down to me running it on a MacBook ( 2Ghz,2GB ). For the money I paid for it, it's a useful ( but not great ) product. However, I've found the support to be abysmal, and that's as important to me, as how it runs.

I've only had a quick scan of this thread, but does anyone with a C2D based machine have it running? Any problems? ( thinking of Parallels C2D debacle, here ).

I have a 20" iMac Core 2 Duo with 2GB and the stock 250GB hard drive. I'm running Parallels 24/7 with XP on a second 20" LCD monitor - OSX on the left on the iMac itself, XP on the right with the second LCD dedicated to running XP fullscreen.

I've rebooted twice in 3 weeks just because some software on the OSX side required a reboot.

To be honest, I've had more application crashes and restarts on OSX than I have under XP/Windows in the past 3 years. So much for "crash resistant" - and yes, I've had 4 kernel panics since I got this iMac home; that's more than the number of BSODs I've had under XP in 4 years.

So, in the next day or so I'll be doing the following test batch and making a thread here for the results:

    - I'll be installing Parallels build 1970 clean
    - I'll be installing the current beta build of VMWare Fusion clean
    - I'll be installing XP SP2 *only* in default VMs under each of those two applications
    - I will not be updating the SP2 at all, in fact neither VM will have Internet access to keep that aspect out of the testing
    - I will install Windows Media Player 10 and Windows Media Encoder 9 as supplied by Microsoft for testing (see the next step)
    - I will be installing PCMark05 from Futuremark into each VM for comprehensive testing under both applications (WMP10 and WME9 are required components of PCMark05, hence me installing them in the prior step)

I will then run the default benchmark in PCMark05 with the following stipulations:

What "desirability" does a tower plus monitor combination have over an iMac exactly? I have no interest in interior design, yet even I can see the benefit of sleek tidy iMac against cable mess ugly boxes taking up too much space.

Tower plus monitor desirable? No thanks.

And you guys accuse PC users of sticking to old stereotypes. If you want to see ugly, take a gaze at the army of external devices that my iMac is going to need. I prefer my cables be inside the case instead of covering my desk.

2+ full size optical drives opppsed to a single slow notebook drive
    2+ hard drive bays
    Card reader
    Easy CPU upgrading
    Easy RAM upgrading
Upgradable x16 PCI-Express slot compared to underclocked fixed notebook GPU
3+ PCI/ PCI-E x1 slots for upgrading to new devices
    Choice of display
being able to choose what you want to do instead of having everything dictated to you by Steve Jobs.

    Hmmmm . . .

Should Google be more excited about how many copies of Android it has sold . . . .

Or Apple about how many copies of the iPhone it has sold ?

(little hint, Google isn't selling the Android OS)

I always wonder why people decide to respond to the post below mine which says the same thing but with less proof...

Above I said the same thing with a specific example. It's not as fun to argue with someone who makes a good argument though, is it?

    http://techcrunch.com/2009/03/25/apples-iphone-app-refund-policies-could-bankrupt-developers/

Great you posted some blog with an interesting interpretation of potential issues with the contract. Do you have any evidence that this policy has been enforced?

all of this is very positive to a recent switcher like myself.
i am trying to tranisiton everything to mac and i am open to going with iWork IF it can truely be a replacement to MS Oriface for me.
i am a mid level user. really i am a consumer user who has put in the time and effort to learn some of the more powerful features.
i hope that apple will begin to verify some of this info so i can confirm whether i wanna jump on the iWork7 bandwagon right away. :)

    It is nothing.

    I mean that literally.

There is no fourth product line.

This is simply a bug where the store is trying to look up a product name by key and the product doesn't exist.

Someone set the product list size one greater than it should be, causing the list to include an extra item. But since there is no device category, looking up the MarketingName for that device category fails.

But the question remains - why is "Mac" in the variable name? On an App Store that doesn't support any Macs.

It could be nothing, a naming convention carried over, but it is odd.

I'm an iOS dev, and this showed up on my pages. I have no idea what it means, or what this device is, I have not made an update to support a new device, and I doubt other devs have either.

Devs usually never get pre-release access to a new device.

Creative positioning + bed with a good bit of "give", e.g. Memory Foam = enjoyment without that "crushing" feeling. This has served me well, and that's the best way I can explain it without going into TMI territory.

This is a great post!!! And good lord, 30K calorie supper! UGHGHG... Well at least she has goals and is planning on getting to those goals even if it kills her!

Dont count Parallels out. They will eventually have multicore support in their app, and i am sure will keep getting better over time.
